Good for the price, mediocre for else

I've used the Thomann Monster Reed both in strengths of 2,5 and 3. They were about on par strength wise of Legere Signature synthetic reeds. I used these for about three-four months and concluded the sound and ease of play was not for me after all.

Now don't get me wrong. I think the reed is great for the ~18€ price and if you've heard it and liked the sound. I would give it a shot. But if you can spend a little bit extra for a synthetic reed, I would recommend to go for the Legere Signature reeds over these.

Ich war wie immer zunächst skeptisch was künstliche Blätter angeht. Aber Monster Reed trägt die Bezeichnung "Hybrid" und wird dieses gerecht. Meine anfängliche Skepsis hat sich nicht bestätigt. Ich benötigte keine Eingewöhnungszeit. Das Blatt sprach leicht an und der Sound blieb normal in allen Registern aber es könnte das echte Holz Gefühl von überblättern nicht geben .
Ich vergebe erst mal 4 Sterne für den gesamt Bewertung um abzuwarten wie das Monster Reed sich verhält in der Langzeit Anwendung und dass das echte Holzgefühl fehlt. Aber eine verdammt gute Alternative und ich werde es immer dabei haben für als Ersatz und einsetzen wenn der Sound direkt kommen soll. cheers

Verglichen mit dem Legere Studio wirkt dieses Blatt eher Stumpf. Es versucht klassische Holzblätter nachzuahmen, hat aber Probleme in der Ansprache und im Klang. Lieber das Geld in die etwas teureren Legere investieren. Bei dem Monster Reed von Thomann gibt es keine Möglichkeit des Umtauschs. Das macht es zu einem teuren Ersatzblatt mit schlechtem klang. Schade.
