Great for playing, not so good for recording DI
You've probably read tons of great reviews about the THR5, and indeed I agree with all of them in terms of sound quality, clarity, versatility, design, and so on. However, I want to add here a point of view about something not a lot of people share: recording via USB. As you know, you can connect your THR5 to a computer and use it as an audio interface for recording. If you're looking for a really minimal setup for your home studio (like I was), I'm sad to share that the THR5 doesn't do a good job in this area.
If you want to record one of the processed sounds of the amp ("clean", "crunch", "lead", etc, which are send through input signals 1 and 2), you might be happy with the outcome. However, if you want to use a digital amp sim like the ones from your DAW or NeuralDSP plugins, for example, you may prefer to use the DI inputs (3 and 4). Despite THR5's Impressive low latency, here are the main problems:
The output signal for DI is very low, and there's nothing you can do to control the gain for DI. All the settings for master, volume, and gain control affect only the processed sounds, not the DI. In my case, my guitar signal was peaking at -34db when recording, which is pretty low, creating a bad signal to noise ratio. When compared to Focusrite Scarlett Solo, for example, the difference in quality is gigantic, so I recommend you to use a proper audio interface for better sound recording instead of the THR5.
All in all, I really like this Amp for daily practice. I just had the wrong expectations in mind for recording when I bought it.

Good option for practice but it isn’t perfect
disappointed with the volume changing so much as you swap channels. I understand a high gain channel is going to be louder than a clean channel, but the difference in volume is shocking to the point where I believe I got a faulty amp

Great little practise amp
If you're like me and just started to try to learn how the electric guitar really works this is really a good option.
A few good pre selection of different settings and a good amount of effects. Good interface with computer use. A bit disappointing on the amount of pre sets found on Internet but nothing to do with product.
Very good built quality and very smart look as you would expect from Yamaha.
One of the best things about it is that you can practise at night or in situations that you can't burst the volume too high. Still fairly good quality coming from the 2x 5 watt speakers.
Thomann service 100% as always. Fast delivery and very helpful as usual.

These are amazing sounding, you can get almost any sort of sound out of them and along with the downloadable programs I would say the features are top notch. The only bother I have with them are that they are of poor quality, it's anyones guess if you get a 100% working one or one with a unwanted high pitch sound coming out of it, mine works but only if I turn all the knobs all the way first. It's a gamble but well worth it for the price.

fun and convenient....
the THR5 is just about the most fun and convenient way to practice electric guitar - especially if you like to jam along with backing tracks, and maybe use some effects. The sound is excellent for the size of the unit, and with the addition of batteries its fantastically convenient. Brilliant for late night practice when a larger amp is simply not convenient.

Pretty good sound in a small box
I bought this amp for home practicing at low volumes mostly, you can achieve great tones in the clean and mid gain options. However if you try the high gain options, it starts to make some hum noise, so be prepared. I still think it's a good option for those who want a third amp for practicing/recording. You can modify the default settings connecting the amp with your computer and it comes with a Cubase license, so it's easy to use it as an interface.

Great battery powered amp!
I've tried other battery powered options but this combo is the best. With effects built-in and presets it's a lot more fun to play. I use in the streets and it's awesome. Just sometimes it turns off unexpectedly.
