I loved Api 512 during tracking my first projects in my first studio so I gave 312 a shot and man I couldn't be happier
The only downside from the 512 is that you don't have a line input or DI
But man what a sound! Classic fast transients as you expect from API, but kinda smoother than the 512
Love the 3:1 button for pushing the preamp

Dieses Teil ist pure Magie.
Die Vocals sind druckvoll,warm.
Auch ohne Kompressor ist die Stimme "in your face". und sitzt perfekt im Mix.
Einer der besten Preamp,den ich ausprobiert habe

Superbe préampli

J'ai récemment fais l'acquisition de ce préampli micro afin de compléter ma "collection" de préamplis en format 500. J'utilise régulièrement au studio des préampli Neve 1073 et SSL VHD, et voulais pouvoir "comparer" avec cet API 312.
Niveau son, je suis très satisfait sur les prises vocales ! C'est riche et bien tenu dans le bas, très propre dans le bas-mid, les high mid accrocheurs sans être agressifs... Punch et clarté.
Coté utilisation, je trouve que le niveau d'entrée est plutôt élevé quand le potard de gain est à "0", je suis souvent obligé de mettre le pad -20dB, ce qui ne m'arrive jamais pour une voix avec d'autres préamplis. Le Vu-Mètre est efficace et bien lisible !
Il manquerait peut être aussi une entrée jack combo/xlr en surface comme sur mes 1073 pour que ça soit parfait !
Bref, excellent produit, je recommande !
