High-performance everyday amplifier
Compared with many competing models, the Behringer A800 gives recordings a remarkably fresh and engaging character, making familiar tracks feel almost as if they have been newly mastered. Whether music is played from vinyl records or digital MP3 files, the amplifier delivers a sound that feels more dynamic, detailed and spacious. This comes as little surprise, as the A800 combines solid build quality with a well-balanced feature set, focusing on what matters most: reliable and transparent amplification. Incoming signals are reproduced cleanly and consistently, free from noticeable hum, noise or mechanical interference, while its carefully positioned mid-range pricing makes high-quality audio performance accessible to a wider audience. The Behringer A800 proves that refined listening enjoyment does not have to come at a premium.
Just the way you want it!
For precise power monitoring, the Behringer A800 features an accurate level meter complemented by input clip detection and channel protection LEDs, allowing operating conditions to be assessed at a glance. Connectivity is equally versatile, with balanced XLR and 6.3mm TRS inputs alongside unbalanced RCA connections, making integration into a wide variety of audio setups straightforward. On the output side, both professional twist-lock and traditional pole-terminal speaker connections are available, providing flexibility for different installation requirements. Advanced convection cooling ensures completely silent operation, while the servo-controlled design enables the amplifier to drive virtually any passive speaker system with confidence. Delivering up to 2 x 400 watts into 4 ohms and as much as 800 watts in bridged mono mode into 8 ohms, it offers substantial power reserves and impressive headroom, performance that feels particularly noteworthy at this price point.
One for all – versatile use
The Behringer A800 is a highly versatile power amplifier, well suited to a wide variety of applications and environments. Whether used as part of a home hi-fi system, for monitoring duties in rehearsal spaces, for sound reinforcement in smaller venues, or within professional recording and post-production facilities, it adapts comfortably to the task at hand. In keeping with the reputation of this long-established manufacturer, the A800 focuses on delivering dependable performance without unnecessary complexity, offering a level of quality that exceeds expectations for its price category. What makes it particularly appealing is the balance it strikes between capability and affordability, demonstrating that strong audio performance does not necessarily have to come with a premium price tag. For anyone seeking a flexible and cost-effective amplification solution, that combination is difficult to overlook.
About Behringer
The company, which was founded in Germany by Uli Behringer and now manufactures its products in China, has been known for affordable and great-value equipment since its very first product, the Studio Exciter F. An array of mixing consoles (such as the Eurodesk MX8000), signal processors, and later sound amplification and monitoring equipment, has made it possible for countless musicians to fit out their home studios, practice rooms, and mobile PAs within budget limits that were previously unthinkable. The acquisition of other companies, including Midas, Klark Teknik, and TC Electronic, meant that new product groups were added - and also resulted in the technical expertise of these companies being incorporated into product development.
Convection cooling
Cooling performance is often a key consideration for experienced users when evaluating Class D power amplifiers, particularly in rack-mounted installations where heat management can be a concern. The Behringer A800 demonstrates that effective thermal control is not simply a matter of using fan-based cooling, but rather the result of thoughtful engineering and efficient component selection. By utilising lightweight transformers that generate very little heat, even when operating in bridged mode, the amplifier maintains stable performance under demanding conditions. While the chassis may become moderately warm during extended periods of high-output operation, the carefully designed convection cooling system is more than capable of dispersing excess heat. Rather than relying on active fans, the A800 uses natural airflow to ventilate the internal components, providing reliable cooling while preserving the benefit of completely silent operation.
