It does help, but...

I placed the string butler on my Gibson ES-339 - and well, the tuning stability improved (e.g. testing when bending the G string a whole step at the 2nd fret). However, before installing, I recommend users to clean the slots on their nuts regularly. In other words, it really works well in conjunction with smooth and cleaned nut slots.
