Padding Doesn't Even Reach my Shoulder

Bought this because my heavy Les Paul is causing some shoulder pain. I'm 6 feet tall, maybe a touch under that - so more or less average height and I have the strap set around the middle position. A person my height would have to be wearing their guitar higher than that for the padding to even reach their shoulder, making buying an XL strap pointless in the first place
