La série signature Raymond Curfs de chez Playwood est l'une des lignes haut de gamme concernant les baguettes de timbales. Elles ont en commun les manches en bambou denses, droits et symétriques, avec finition mat sombre, un grip en silicone et un poids assez consistant pour un son toujours plein.
La série 31 est constituée de noyaux en bois, alors que la série 32 est faite de liège. Contrairement aux idées reçues, le liège aura autant de puissance que le bois, mais le bois garde une couleur plus traditionnelle.
La paire 3213 est plus lourde que la plupart des modèles, pour une dureté moyen/doux. Elle est parfaite pour un répertoire romantique allemand, mais trouve ses limites dans les traits rapides, qui deviennent trop lourdeaux. Pour remédier à ce problème, je conseille les 3232 qui sont un peu plus polyvalentes, bien que moins lourdes et donc un peu moins puissantes.
