Deep bass that fits in a suitcase
A proper serving of low end that would still fit in carry-on is a rare thing. The Achat 108 Sub is a particularly compact, passive 8" subwoofer from Thomann's in-house brand the box pro, and it's ideally suited to small, mobile sound systems where discreet, controlled bass is required. As a passive subwoofer, it's powered by an external amplifier, making it a good fit both for users putting together a classic PA setup and for anyone looking give their existing system more low end. Unlike active designs, the Achat 108 Sub is driven directly from the amplifier via a speaker cable and doesn't need its own mains connection. The result is a simpler cabling setup, which works well in mobile rigs as well as in installations with central amplification. The cabinet is finished in understated matte black and coated in a durable textured paint, making it well suited to regular use on the move.
Subtle support where it counts
The Achat 108 Sub delivers an even, controlled bass response that delivers subtle low-end reinforcement for a range of smaller applications. Paired with compact top speakers, it noticeably eases the load in the low end and lower midrange, helping those speakers sound cleaner and more balanced overall. There are three locking NL4 connectors, supporting a number of different signal paths. The input carries the signal from the amplifier. The top output, with its integrated crossover at around 150Hz, connects the sub directly to a top speaker, for simple setups that require no additional speaker management. The thru output passes the signal on unchanged, for example to another subwoofer or an external processor. Because the usable frequency range is relatively broad for a sub of this size, the Achat 108 Sub also works well in more advanced systems that rely on an external DSP.
For mobile setups and understated events
With a power handling of 100W RMS, a maximum sound pressure level of 116dB and a weight of just 10kg, the Achat 108 Sub remains compact and easy to handle, while still offering enough headroom for smaller-scale use. All this makes the sub particularly well suited to mobile entertainers, small live setups, and any situation where the bass should stay in the background. In cafés and bars, in galleries and showrooms, it adds low-end weight without drawing attention to itself, either visually or sonically. Thanks to its low weight, it can be carried and set up easily by one person; two sturdy recessed handles make transport straightforward, whether it's being loaded into a car or carried into a venue. Its compact footprint also helps it blend in unobtrusively, without getting in the way of the main event.

Flexible placement and room to grow
The Achat 108 Sub from the box pro can be integrated into a range of PA concepts, working just as well as a single bass extension as it does as part of a larger, expandable system. Because of its compact size, it doesn't have to stay on the floor, either. With an optional mounting bracket, it can also be installed on a wall or ceiling. This works particularly well in spaces where a clean, unobtrusive look is important: A subwoofer is extremely forgiving in this respect, in that low frequencies tend to spread quite evenly throughout a room, so placement is more flexible than with more directional full-range speakers. What makes the Achat 108 Sub even more well suited to mobile use and frequent setup changes is the entire unit's robust build quality. And for larger systems, multiple units can easily be stacked, combined in greater numbers, and integrated into systems with external processing: Paired with a suitable amplifier and a DSP controller, the overall system can be tuned precisely to suit different rooms and applications.
