Beautiful pickup

I put it in my thinline telecaster replica instead of humbucker to get more "tele" sound. This lollar has absolutely gorgeous twang, instantly calling back to 60s even on modern distortion. Expectedly warm and not too dark.

Sadly, first one I got was dead on arrival, no visual damage. Thanks thomann for easily sending replacement. So the pickup seems to be having QA issues.

Ich bin leider ein Erbsenzähler und habe darum einige Hals Pickups ausprobiert. Ziel war Klarheit und mehr Höhen als man sonst oft in Telecaster Hals-Tonabnehmern findet. Der Vintage T geht ein gutes Stück Richtung Strat aber klar ohne die Grenze zu überschreiten wie z.B. der DiMarzio Twang King, dessen Strat-Höhen mir dann doch schnell auf die Nerven gingen. Der Lollar ist schon immer noch ein Telecaster Pickup, also ohne Mittenloch und gehypte Höhen. Der Tonabnehmer hat dennoch genügend Höhen, dass man hier und da auch mit dem Ton Poti etwas zurücknehmen könnte.

Der Bass Bereich ist sehr kontrolliert - irgendwie dünn wird es aber nie. Die Dynamik ist sehr gut, selbst mit Kompressor und leichtem Overdrive. Außerdem fällt mir auf wie gleichmäßig die Saiten untereinander klingen, vor allem die Problemkandidaten hohe B/E Saite sind präsent ohne harsch zu klingen - das ist nicht einfach.

Es gibt schon auch noch andere gute Pickups unter 100 Euro. Aber der Lollar trifft schon einen Sweet Spot. Die 135€ Euro finde ich sehr angemessen. Ich zumindest habe keine wirkliche Alternative gefunden. Lollars T52 ist bestimmt auch interessant, mit noch etwas mehr Höhen und Alnico 2 Magneten, aber den gibt es nur im Set. Oder der Suhr Classic T. Aber 170 Euro... Was Fender zu bieten hat weiß ich nicht genau, aber das meiste auch nur im Set.

Meinem Exemplar lagen keine Schrauben bei, nur ein Zettel, dass man unbedingt das mitgelieferte Befestigungsmaterial benutzen soll... Ja mei.

Livré avec un petit livret qui indique comment faire les soudures (car chaque constructeur a son code couleur pour les câbles), les vis, et les ressorts (que je n'avais pas vu aux premiers abords, placés sous la mousse protectrice - j'ai dû fabriquer une petite pièce pour réussir à monter le micro sur un pickguard... Alors qu'il n'y avait pas besoin...)

Le son est à la fois très clair, claquant (twang ?) et chaleureux...
On distingue clairement toutes les notes et toutes les cordes !
Que ce soit en "son clair" ou "saturé", on ressent chacune des petites intentions de jeu, et la puissance de ces micros ressort sur tous les types de dynamique de jeu, c'est fou !

Je l'ai combiné sur ma Telecaster avec un micro Lollar Imperial F Spaced, et les deux se marient extrêmement bien ! (Ma critique est la même pour ces deux micros)

Ça fait des années que je réfléchissais pour me prendre ce micro, si vraiment l'investissement en valait la peine... Et clairement : oui !
Une guitare moyen-gamme bien réglée, et avec ces micros Lollar, dépasse largement les guitares haut de gamme ! Le feeling est démultiplié !
Je referai ce choix sans hésiter :)
