Smart elegance
With a clear focus on creative performance and hands‑on control, the Traktor MX2 marks the latest evolution in DJ controllers from Native Instruments, building on its predecessor with a refined design and thoughtfully expanded functionality. Alongside its sleek matt black finish and subtle, futuristic lighting, it now offers full control over the iconic deck effects and the built-in pattern player, adding musical depth that was previously missing. The familiar two-deck layout follows established club standards, ensuring an intuitive experience while maintaining a distinctive visual identity. With a full licence for Traktor Pro included, the MX2 provides everything DJs need to dive straight into precise beatmatching, expressive stem mixing, and personalised performance setups with confidence.
Lightweight, but not lite!
Whether for beginners or seasoned professionals, the Traktor MX2 offers an ideal entry point into Native Instruments' Traktor ecosystem, combining accessibility with a level of performance that meets demanding expectations. It comes bundled with Traktor Pro, ensuring a comprehensive, cohesive setup, while its lightweight yet robust build delivers reliable control over two decks without feeling cumbersome. The spacious layout, refined design and impressive audio quality create a polished experience that remains intuitive even in more complex mixes. Large, highly responsive jog wheels, versatile performance pads and precise controls such as keylock and master tempo provide the creative freedom needed for expressive, seamless DJ sets across any genre.
Powerful two-deck controller
The Traktor Pro DJ software is instantly recognised by the controller, allowing a smooth and immediate start to mixing, while the included power supply ensures consistent performance and excellent sound quality throughout. Alongside the two Traktor decks, a microphone input with front-panel activation and rear volume control adds further flexibility for live performance. Native Instruments has refined the design with subtle, atmospheric lighting that creates a striking visual presence, particularly in darker environments. With customisable colour settings in Traktor and extensive mapping options in the preferences, controls can be freely assigned and additional USB MIDI devices integrated, offering a highly adaptable setup tailored to individual workflows.
About Native Instruments
Native Instruments is a Berlin-based company, founded in 1996, which specialises in products for computer-assisted music production. The company develops a wide variety of products: software solutions such as Komplete, which hosts a huge range of virtual instruments that emulate both acoustic and electronic instruments in hi-fi quality, and Reaktor, which lets you create your own virtual instruments – through to hardware products such as beat-making and DJ controllers. Native Instruments' goal is to inspire and encourage musicians with its innovative products. To this end, more than 500 people are employed at the company's headquarters in Berlin and at other locations including Los Angeles, Toronto, Tokyo, London, Paris, and Shenzhen. Since 2023, the manufacturers Plugin Alliance, iZotope, and Brainworx have also been part of Native Instruments.
Rock solid
Paired with Traktor Pro, the Traktor MX2 forms a dependable and fully integrated DJ system that’s up and running in minutes. Connection is handled via USB‑C, audio routes cleanly to a mixer or PA, and playback can begin immediately with local files or streamed libraries such as Beatport and Beatsource, which new users can try free for two months. Broadcasting capabilities add further versatility, allowing live sets with microphone commentary to be streamed directly from Traktor to a server, while the built-in iZotope Ozone Maximizer ensures a powerful, polished sound without distortion. For even more control, mixes can also be recorded within Traktor, refined afterward, and shared online, making the system a complete and professional solution for modern DJ performances.
In the spotlight
Stem mixing
The Berlin-based software company Native Instruments introduced the pioneering stem format back in 2015, significantly shaping the way stereo tracks are split into four signals: drums, bass, keys and vocals. With AI-based stem separation in Traktor Pro, NI has revolutionised the technology once again: Stems are played back just like normal stereo tracks and can be creatively edited using hot cues, loops and key shift. In addition, individual tracks can be muted or have their volume adjusted, e.g. to remove the vocals and play only the instrumental, or to mute all instruments and mix the a cappella onto a different track. The creative possibilities are endless, and the Traktor MX2 controller is packed with features to let users get hands-on with stems right from the start.
