A great practise tool when used properly.

The stylus tip on the pick forces you to slow down and concentrate on the precision and consistency of your pick strokes. Dig in too hard or pick sloppily, and the pick gets caught in the string.
Of course, this is a good thing if you are the methodical, metronome-using type of guitarist.
But if you are the impatient type, be warned: This pick will drive you insane.
