A journey back in time

It was the year 1985, and the TC Electronic 2290 digital delay had just seen the light of day for the first time; this rack-mount signal processor went on to set new standards, impressing all comers with its range of modulation functions and phenomenal sound quality. The TC2290-DT, a software emulation of this beloved classic, gives a new generation of audiophiles the chance to use its authentic vintage sound in the studio, with the hardware also providing a similar sense of physical feedback to the original. And it's not as if it takes a long time to set up: Install the software, connect the remote to a computer via micro-USB, and off it goes!

Genuine 2290 sound

By implementing tried-and-tested TC Electronic algorithms, this software emulator creates a wealth of flexible, adaptable effects with a convincingly authentic sound. The remote control, which is outwardly almost identical to the original device (as well as serving as a physical anti-piracy dongle), can be used to manage all the individual functions of the delay plugin. By simply toggling through the user interface, multiple instances of the plugin can be operated at once. In addition, the input and output levels can be monitored directly via the hardware unit itself with its high-resolution meters.

Nice when so much else is "in the box"

Anyone who gets the appeal of real hardware and vintage sounds will feel at home with the TC2290-DT: Its combination of software and hardware manages to revive some of the old charm of decades past, while effectively implementing the advantages of modern software solutions. It's also compatible with both Windows and macOS, supporting the commonly found VST2, AU, and AAX formats. What this means is that both resolutely old-school traditionalists and very modern music-makers will find that the TC2290-DT is a delay plugin that suits the way they work in a huge variety of situations.

About TC Electronic

The Danish company TC Electronic has been known for its innovative products for many years. It was founded in 1976 by brothers Kim and John Rishøj in Aarhus. The company first made a name for itself with the SCF, a stereo chorus/flanger pedal for guitar. Studio equipment followed during the 80s and 90s, notably the legendary TC2290 digital delay in 19-inch rack format. Since the 2000s, TC Electronic has greatly enriched the guitar and bass scene with amplifiers, cabinets, combos, and effects pedals. Here too, TC's innovative spirit is in evidence, for example with its TonePrint technology and the first polyphonic guitar tuner. TC Electronic has been part of Music Tribe since 2015.

Of course, it's also easy for users to program their own configurations using the desktop remote. A bit of nostalgia on your desktop

I absolutely love this delay. It was part of the sound of many of my guitar heroes and now I can have a slice of that in my studio.

Solidly built and works like a charm. The buttons are a little on the small side but are workable. Clients appear impressed by it even if they don't know what it is. I can see that it would be easier to use if all the controls were just on-screen but that's just a small price to pay for a legendary processor to be made available in a home studio.

Of course, the Thomann team deserve credit for their usual excellent customer service and delivery times.

I’ve used the original 2290 back In the 90s and always loved its sound ! This little gem does not disappoint in any way sound functionality, look and feel

It does sound slightly more hi if and as a little more middle !

But the ability to load several in your daw or mainstage is worth the sacrifice !

This is a fantastic product the best sounding delay and the most features plus having multiple instances with different settings in your DAW only thing would be a great feature is if this was available as a pedal so you can play live without computer but it is still fantasic to have access to the iconic sound of the origional 2290

Excellent sound & interface

Very happy with this. I can have a Tc2290 on a bus at all time and have access to the plugin with hardware with out the plug in being open. From a workflow perspective it means no mouse, and i like the physicality of the hardware. I use it Softube Console 1 and a Behringer X Touch 1. Great combo.
