Upgrade for the Harley Benton Slider II Vintage lap steel

When I received the HB lap steel I knew I wanted to upgrade the tuners and all electronics.
So after some research I decided to upgrade my Harley Benton lap steel guitar with this pick-up.
At the same time I also replaced the mini potentiometers with the Fender 250K Control Solid Shaft versions and a Switchcraft 1/4" Mono Jack.
The Bare Knuckle Boot Camp True Grit ST NB (neck - black) pickup was a huge improvement over the stock ceramic pickup, it sounded much fuller and warmer. It gave that particular single coil sound one, or at least me, is always looking for.
I selected the neck version as most of the time I play this lap steel guitar fairly clean with no heavy overdrive or distortion, although this would work well also. I love the full tone and at this price I am very satisfied with the results. For my second and third Harley Benton lap steel guitars I will select this brand again.

Bare Knuckle Boot Camp True Grit ST NB

Die Bewertung hat sich etwas hingezogen, da ich die beiden Pickups bereits bei der Planung für den Bau einer Gitarre bestellt habe. Die Pickupkonfiguration (HSS) ist ein Kluson Grand Vintage (Bridge) und die beiden Bare Knuckle Boot Camp True Grit ST NB für Middle-/Neck. Nach der Fertigstellung der Gitarre (Body/Linde; Neck/Ahorn, beide Hölzer über 50 Jahre alt) kann ich nun eine Bewertung für die beiden oben angeführten Pickups abgeben. Klang/Sound ist meiner Meinung was sehr subjektives und wird von vielen Faktoren beeinflusst. Aufgrund des gemessenen Widerstandes von je 9 kOhm, dachte ich, dass der Klang mittenbetont sein müsste und eher in Richtung P90 gehen würde. Bei einem A/B-Vergleich mit meinen Fender Tex-Mex-Set hatte ich den Eindruck, dass sie nicht ganz so höhenreich klingen, was aber auch auf die Gitarre (Body/Esche; Neck/Bubinga) zurück zu führen sein könnte, da ja das Holz auch Einfluss auf den Klang nimmt. In Kombination mit dem Kluson Grand Vintage harmonieren die beiden Bare Knuckle meiner Meinung nach sehr gut. Überrascht war ich vom Klang in der Kombination Schalterstellung 4 (Kluson Grand Vintage + Middle-Pickup), welcher sich besonders für meine Vorliebe des leicht crunchigen Bluessounds eignet.
Schön wäre die Möglichkeit gewesen einen Middle-Pickup (RWRP) zu bekommen, zwecks HB-Schaltung in der Zwischenstellung zwischen Neck-/Middle-Pickup, doch die Version, die es gibt, war bei Thomann nicht im Sortiment.

Deze pick up klinkt het mooiste als het volume iets terug is gedraaid. Voor mij is de output net iets te hoog maar hij reageert erg goed door het volume terug te draaien.

Remplace le micro manche d'une Strat pour compléter 2 Humbuckers (splitables en simple). Pas de blindage des câbles.
Ronflement possible (noise gate conseillé) et debout, il faut pivoter le corps (et la guitare) pour l'atténuer.
Alnico 5: plus chaud qu'un micro céramique clinquant.
Super en son clean, satisfait du son chaud très Strat chaude.
Attention: 2 fils ultra fins visibles en bordure, très fragiles.
